My
professional interests are many and various; they include:
Cross-cultural Gender Studies;
Ethnicity, Race, and Immigration;
Cross-cultural Religious Studies;
Southeast Asian and Philippine Studies;
Identity, Intersubjectivity, and Marginality;
Psychological Anthropology;
Fieldwork, Methodology, and Ethnography;
Human Sexuality;
Medical Anthropology;
Post-colonial Studies and Cultural Studies;
Globalization, Transnationalism, and Social Change
I also maintain a strong interest in and commitment to
education, and am
currently teaching at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA.
In addition, I have an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from JFK
University, and have worked at the JFK University Counseling Center in
Sunnyvale, CA.
The
University of Michigan Press published my first book, Unconventional
Sisterhood, in 2001.
