Article
Summaries
The purpose of the article summaries is to bring "real world" examples to the classroom. The example must relate to the subjects or chapters discussed in the class in a direct or indirect fashion. The articles should be as current as possible and reflect a major news, event, action, or development. The article may relate to local, national or international issues or marketing or advertising news. Choose only articles of substance with contributions or attributions to class material and discussions (i.e. product development, new product release, promotion campaigns, advertising, marketing strategy, etc).
The summaries must be spell checked and typed. They must be turned-in in a professional manner. No whiteout or marks on the papers. The summaries must be attached to a copy of the article (stapled) with name and class name on the front page. ALL ARTICLES MUST BE STAPLED AND TYPED! NO EXCEPTIONS!
Summaries:
Select an article from the Wall Street Journal online or paper,
Business Week online or paper, or search the Internet for business/marketing
articles. You may also select an article from a
credible journal, website or magazine (no tabloids, or unofficial websites
please). Other suggestions: NY TIMES,
1) Summarize the main points of the article; relate the article to specific subjects discussed in class. 2) Provide analysis of the article as it relates to what has been discussed in class or the book. 3) Provide an educated opinion and reflection on the article, stating what you have gathered from the article and the reasons you chose the article. I am interested in what you have learned from your chosen article. 4) Attach a copy of the article to your typed summary and turn in on the due date.
Summaries can be 1-2
pages. Provide effective summaries. Keep it simple, short & to the
point.
No Late assignments or make ups will be accepted during the semester
Email option: You can email your article as WORD attachment document to my email mohassan@cabrillo.edu. Your summary must be an attachment with URL (web address) for the article itself included in the email. You must provide name, class and section in your email. THE EMAIL OPTION IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO THOSE WHO HAVE OBTAINED PERMISSION FROM THE PROFESSOR PRIOR TO DUE DATE! PERMISSION IS GRANTED FOR EMERGINCIES ONLY! The email articles must be received prior to the class period that the assignment is due. No Permission, will result in rejection of emailed article.
