COURSE
DESCRIPTION
This course provides general information of international markets and business practices. In addition, the course will introduce organizational techniques for various cultures and discuss business practices as they relate to those cultures.

REQUIRED
MATERIALS
Global Business by Hill, Irwin-McGraw Hill Publishing.
Suggested Reading: The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, or the Economist
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. To identify best organizational techniques for various cultures
2. To understand the values and ethics of various cultures
3. To discuss problems caused by language differences
4. To introduce and utilize the www in business research
5. To complete a cultural fair that will enable the students to be familiar with various countries' values, business practices, and work ethics
TEACHING STRATEGIES
3) Students are encouraged to read a financial paper or magazine throughout the semester. Students are expected to share news and other financial information with the rest of the class on a regular basis.
COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
This course will utilize business and word processing software as well as, surfing the internet. You are expected to learn to use computers to conduct your project(s). You will need to familiarize yourself with some business software such as or Word or Word Perfect for Windows. If you have no experience in computer usage, then you are expected to learn in this course. In today's competitive business and financial environment, it is essential to be familiar and have the knowledge of computers and its various applications to survive. Integration of the Internet and WWW will be emphasized in this course.
ATTENDANCE
Regular and prompt attendance is required in this class, just as it is in the business community.
** Students who are absent will miss class participation, attendance, and assignment points.
Your attendance is crucial to your success in this course. You will be considered absent if you show up following roll call (usually within the first fifteen minutes). You will be penalized a letter grade for any four unexcused absences during the semester. Please do not disturb the class by coming late or leaving before the class is dismissed.
Please exercise proper etiquette!
MAKE-UP POLICY
There will be no make-ups of any kind. All assignments and exams must be taken on the time and date they are scheduled. Only excused students can turn in late assignments. The excuses should be obtained from the instructor prior to the assignment due date.
ASSIGNMENTS
All assignments are to be turned in on the due date.
Proper usage of grammar and spelling is expected in all assignments. Article summaries must be typed. Late assignments will not be accepted.

This course will emphasize class discussions and students' input into the world of International Business.
WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Last day to withdraw from the class and receive a grade of "W" is 10/12/2000. Students withdrawing after 10/12/2000 will risk the chance of receiving an "F" for the course. This instructor has the discretion to grant a grade of "W" or "F" to those withdrawing after the mentioned date. Students are encouraged to discuss their grade standing any time during the semester.
CLASS EVALUATION
In order to continuously improve the quality of instruction and to deliver the best service to you, your ideas, suggestions, opinions, and concerns are welcomed at all time. However, you are required to turn in a typed evaluation twice a semester to insure and improve quality. Your comments are due before mid-term and following the second exam. I appreciate your participation in improving the quality of education. It is your choice whether to include your name or not on the evaluations.
