Cabrillo lost a tough battle with #11 San Jose City College
54-64 on Saturday, February 7th. It was Cabrillo's first
loss at home this season (7-1). San Jose City (16-7, 6-0)
maintained control of first place in the Coast Conference
South.
Cabrillo
(12-11, 2-4) closed the 1st half on a 12-6 run to tie
the game at 35. San Jose City jumped out to a 9
point lead at 35-44 early in the 2nd half before Cabrillo
went on a 10-0 run to take a 45-44 lead with 13:10 left
in the game. However, San Jose shot over 50% from
the floor for the game to pull away.
Maurice
Miller scored 21 points to lead Cabrillo. Vince Inglima
added 13 points.

#25 - Cabrillo Loses At West Valley 70-60
Cabrillo
trailed 37-21 at the half. In the 2nd half, the Seahawks
cut the lead to 7 but couldn't get any closer down the
stretch. Vince Inglima scored 21 points to lead Cabrillo
while Maurice Miller added 17.

#26 - Seahawks Hammer MPC 74 - 41!
Still
clinging to slim playoff hopes, Cabrillo hammered Monterey
Peninsula College 74 - 41 on Wednesday night. The Seahawks
sprinted out to a 12-2 lead on the strength of four made
3-point shots (2 each from Vince Inglima and Maurice Miller)
and never looked back. Cabrillo led 45-22 at the half
after making all 7 of their 3-point attempts. The 'Hawks
increased their lead to as many as 34 in the 2nd half
before cruising to the 33-point victory. Cabrillo shot
59% from the field and out-rebounded MPC 32-20.
Vince
Inglima led all scorers with a season-high tying 27 points
(21 coming in the first half) while Maurice Miller added
26 points (22 in the first half). Julian Hatcher
chipped in 8 points (including 2 3's), all in the 2nd
half.

#27 - 'Hawks Finish Season Strong, Defeating Hartnell
65 - 53
Cabrillo
defeated Hartnell College 65-53 on Saturday night to finish
in 3rd place in the Coast Conference South. The 'Hawks
finish the regular season with a winning record for the
first time since 1984! Cabrillo's winning percentage has
improved in each of four seasons that Tony Marcopulos
has been at the helm.
The
'Hawks, who finish the regular season ranked #3 in the
state in team defense (allowing only 60.7 ppg), held Hartnell
to 39% shooting. Cabrillo also won the battle of
the boards 29-24. The Seahawks held their largest lead
at 58-44 with 7:19 left in the game when Hartnell went
on a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 5 with 1:30 left. However,
Cabrillo responded with a 7-0 run to put the game away.
The
Seahawks, who executed their offense very effectively,
were led by Maurice Miller's 27 points. Julian Hatcher
scored 12 points including 2 3-point shots made. Vince
Inglima added 11 points on 5-6 shooting and grabbed 6
rebounds. Brandon Schuyler chipped in 8 points (on 4-4
shooting) and grabbed 4 rebounds. Dylan Marvin scored
4 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and handed out 3 assists
while directing the Cabrillo offense.

Miss The Playoffs
Despite
earning a winning record (14-13) for the first time in
20 years, Cabrillo will miss out on the 2004 State Playoffs.
The Seahawks have made the playoffs in each of Coach Marcopulos'
previous 3 seasons at Cabrillo. However, state budget
cuts forced the COA to reduce the number of playoff teams
in the state from 64 to 32 (16 from the north and 16 from

'Hawks
Finish Season Strong, Wind Up 9-1 at Home!
Cabrillo
closed out the 2003-2004 season with consecutive wins
over Monterey Peninsula College and Hartnell College to
finish the season with a record of 9-1 at home!Â
The Seahawks defeated MPC 74 - 41 on February 18th and
beat Hartnell 65 - 53 on February 21st. With
those wins, Cabrillo captured 3rd place in the Coast Conference's
South Division. The Cabrillo Men's Basketball Program
continues to improve under the direction of Head Coach
Tony Marcopulos. Cabrillo's winning percentage has improved
in each of four seasons that he has been at the helm.

The
'Hawks finished the regular season as California's second
best defensive team! Cabrillo allowed an average of only
60.7 points per game for the entire season.Â
During Coast Conference play, the Seahawks allowed only

Maurice
Miller - 1st Team All-Conference, League leader in
scoring at 21.3 ppg, had 7th best 3-point percentage in
league games at 40.3%

row), League's #12 scorer at 12.2 ppg.
Julian
Hatcher - Honorable Mention All-Conference, League's
#16 scorer at 9.4 ppg.

SIGN TO PLAY AT FOUR YEAR SCHOOLS
Vince
Inglima, Dylan Marvin, Murphy Stewart and Brandon Schuyler
have all signed on to play at four year institutions for
the 2004-2005 school year.
Cabrillo
College forward Vince Inglima has accepted a basketball
scholarship to attend Sonoma State University in the fall
of 2004. Inglima earned All-Coast Conference (South)
2nd team honors two years in a row. Inglima is also a
3.9 student while at Cabrillo.
Marvin,
a 6'2" starting point guard for the Seahawks in 2003-2004,
will be attending Occidental College in the Fall. Marvin,
from Corvallis, OR., concluded his two year career at
Cabrillo with a 4.0 GPA. Occidental College is located
in Southern California and is without question one of
the elite academic institutions in the country.
Stewart,
a 6'9" Forward/Center, has signed on to play at Bethany
College in the Fall. Stewart's outstanding athletic ability
caught the eye of many Four year colleges at the Div.
1 and 2 levels. However, Stewart's local ties have kept
him close to home so that all can follow his career closely.
Stewart is a 2001 Santa Cruz High graduate.
Schuyler,
a 6'6" forward also from Corvallis, OR., will join Vince
Inglima at Sonoma State University. Schuyler finished
his two year career at Cabrillo with a 3.0 GPA.
