CABT 102 is a one-unit course in which you will learn the 10-key touch system using electronic calculators to solve typical business problems and applications. It is an open entry/ open exit, self-paced course. There is no prerequisite for this course.
How to Enroll:
- Complete advance or walk-in registration. If adding later in the semester, obtain an add slip from an instructor in the Cabrillo College Computer Technology Center (CTC, building 1400) or e-mail cabt@cabrillo.edu.
- Submit the add slip to Admissions and Records and pay your fees.
- Complete an orientation during the first week of classes. Times are in the Schedule of Classes. If you cannot make it to a scheduled orientation, talk to a CABT instructor in the CTC, call 831-479-6277 or e-mail cabt@cabrillo.edu. Students may enroll up to the 12th week of classes.
Student Expectations:
There are no regular class meetings; you are responsible for completing the lessons using the textbook and calculator at your own pace. Students should expect to spend a minimum of 1.5 hours a week and complete at least one lesson a week.
Note: There are calculators available for you to use in the Cabrillo College Computer Technology Center (CTC), building 1400. There are also a couple of textbooks available for check-out to use in the CTC.

Solving Business Problems Using a Calculator, by Mildred K. Polisky, Glencoe McGraw-Hill, 5th edition (1998) or 6th edition (2003).
Grades:
This class can be taken on the regular grading system (A - F) or on a Credit/No Credit basis. Notify the instructor by the 5th week of classes if you want the CR/NC option. All work must be completed before finals week. An Incomplete grade can be assigned only if you have completed 75% of the course work to passing standards, and an illness or emergency prevents you from completing the assignments. To receive a Withdraw (W) grade, you must officially withdraw by the 12th week of the semester. You must have had at least one assignment scored by the instructor by week 12 or you may be dropped from the course.
To receive credit (CR) for the course you need to:
- Complete Lessons 1 - 12 in the text and turn in your tapes and answers. (Make sure to check your answers with the answer key located in the CTC)
- Complete speed and accuracy tests (10 minutes each) with a passing score. Your tests must be
completed in the presence of your Instructor or Lab Instructional Assistant in Cabrillo's Computer Technology Center.
- Complete a timed midterm and final exam with a passing score (30 minutes each). Your tests must
be completed in the presence of your Instructor or Lab Instructional Assistant in Cabrillo's Computer Technology Center.
All work must be completed before finals week!
