MicroPace Pro Software
Instructions |
For CABT 110A, CABT 110B and CABT 110C
MicroPace Pro Individual software for Windows, from South-Western.
Software does not work with Macintosh. CABT 110A and 110B: The textbook College Keyboarding Lessons 1 - 25 by VanHuss, published by South Western Educational Publishing/Thomson Learning, Edition 15 or 16, goes with the software.
CABT 110C: The textbook 121 Timed Writings by Clayton, Sixth Edition, published by South Western Educational Publishing/Thomson Learning goes with the software.
Installing Software
- This should be relatively simple. Follow instructions which came with your MicroPace Pro software.
- After you have installed the software, you will need to copy the timed writing templates from the CD that your instructor gave you. See instructions you were given at that time, or
watch the multimedia tutorial titled "CopyingTimedWritings.wmv" on the CD.
Logging in to the program
- Open the MicroPace Pro software, by finding the program on your "Start" menu, or by double-clicking on the MicroPace Pro icon on your desktop. When the program opens, click on the "Create New Student User" button (see below). You will only need to do this the first time.

Enter your information and make up a password of six characters or more.

If your program prompts you to select a course, just click "OK" to leave the course unassigned.

The next time you open the software, simply enter your name and password.
- Once you have clicked on "OK", the program will open to the screen shown below:

Setting Preferences (CABT 110A and 110B only)
- You will need to disable your keyboard's backspace key while you are working in the MicroPace Pro software, so that you will learn good keyboarding habits. Click on the "Edit" menu at the top of your screen

Choose "Preferences." Make sure that the boxes next to "Timed Writings" and "Drill Practice" do not have checkmarks in them. This will disable the backspace key. CABT 110C students do not have to do this.
Choose "Always one space" at end of sentence.
