A Transformative Education for the Digital Age

[text transcript]
Now accepting applications for the spring 2009 semester!

The Digital Bridge Academy (DBA) is a nationally-recognized, award-winning, academic program. In one semester, we:

  • reignite students’ excitement for learning.
  • accelerate students to successful full-time college-level performance.
  • teach skills highly valued in today’s technology-driven workplace.

Students also identify their strengths and goals, and are coached in academic and career planning. Upon completing the DBA, their vision of where they are headed and how to get there is clear.

Philosophy
The world’s economy is increasingly driven by digital technologies and there is a growing demand for knowledge workers with college degrees. We believe community college students must graduate with the essential knowledge and technical skills required for a career with a future.

We believe that students can prosper if given the right tools and support. In our program, students are offered the chance to prove they can handle an accelerated learning environment where college-level performance is expected.

Innovative Practices
In the DBA, one group of students (or cohort) together takes the same block of courses. A learning community is formed that supports each of them through the program.

The classroom experience is primarily hands-on and interactive, so the DBA is fun! Classes are integrated, which means that assignments are coordinated and new skills are immediately put to use. As a result, students are engaged and feel their studies are relevant to their future.

Students are taught leadership techniques usually reserved for the top executives of Fortune 500 companies. They’re also taught to conduct primary research in their community on a social justice topic. Students build on their already thorough knowledge of issues that affect their community, while gaining the leadership skills to make a difference.
