The Independent Living Program (ILP) provides education and training for foster youths (ages 16-21), foster parents, kinship/relative care providers, foster family agencies, group home staff and other who work with foster teens.
The goal of the program is to more effectively prepare foster youth for living independently after their emancipation from the Foster Care System at age 18. Fifty-two California Community Colleges administer the ILP.
Services
- Assessment of foster parent and foster youth educational needs.
- Development and implementation of specially designed classes and workshops to meet the these needs.
- Outreach efforts to caregiver and foster youth.
