The Early Childhood and Family Life Education Department is a large, complex, occupational and transfer program that includes partnerships and strong collaborative relationships with a variety of local community and state agencies and programs. The Early Childhood Education program of courses integrates theory and practice to help students deepen their understanding of children. As an ECE student you'll study the dynamic processes that drive children's learning and development within the context of the family and the care giving and school environments.

 

Who may study early childhood education

The Early Childhood Education program is appropriate for students who wish to:

Teach in a child development program for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, or school-age children

Open a small childcare business, a family childcare home or a private childcare center

Work as a teacher's assistant in elementary school programs

Transfer to a four-year college or university in fields related to children, family life, education, and community service

Learn more effective parenting skills

Become a foster parent
