 Intensive Chinese Language and Culture Immersion in Shanghai

July 8 - August 6, 2009

Join Cabrillo College Chinese instructor Yaming Shen on a four-week language and culture program at Fudan University in Shanghai, the economic center of China. Fudan is one of the most prestigious Chinese universities and has offered Chinese language programs for over 50 years. Yaming Shen has taught Chinese for over 20 years, co-authored a 14 volume textbook, and led Cabrillo’s summer 2007 Study-In-China program.

 

Chinese language background is not required. Participants of all levels from beginning to advanced are welcome and will be placed in suitable classes. Students earn Cabrillo College credits that are transferable to UC and CSU, and are recognized by other institutions (certain restrictions apply).

 

Program includes:

  • Round-trip airfare
  • Ground transportation
  • Medical/travel insurance
  • Single occupancy room with private bath
  • Intensive language instruction and t extbooks
  • Sightseeing and cultural activities
  • Additional excursions, language tutorials, private lessons, and various enrichment workshops, such as brush painting and folk art, can also be arranged
  • Five units (four transferable) of a Chinese language course (price of units paid separately to Cabrillo College)

 

Space is limited and on a first-come first-served basis. Participants must be 18 years of age or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

All participants must register for Cabrillo Chinese courses in Summer 2009; Yaming Shen will provide the course numbers.

All participants must attend one of the orientations in Room 509:  Friday, February 20, 2:00PM or Saturday, March 21, 2:00PM, and a pre-departure meeting in June.
