TEXT: Miller & Hyslop, California The Geography
of Diversity, 2nd Ed. Mayfield Pub., 2000.
In addition I would recommend a good state map or an atlas
of California. I will assume that if I mention a place in lecture
you will become familiar with its location.

MAP READING ASSIGNMENT
An Audio-Tutorial Map Reading Series is required to be satisfactorily
completed by all students in Geography.
You are asked to go to the Swenson Library, Check Out Desk (Left
side as you enter the main entrance. There you will check out a
video lesson, maps and an exercise sheet for each of five map reading
sessions.
- Listen to the video
- complete the written exercise
- Check out the key from the front desk to see that
you have completed that exercise correctly.
- The fifth lesson is a test which will be graded.
The points earned will be part of your final grade (roughly equal
to 1/7th of total possible points). Grading Policy: There are
50 questions worth 1 point each. A score of 45+= A, 40- 44 = B,
35-39=C, 30-34=D. You are asked to turn in your work on Exercise
4 (the Profile) when you take your exam in the Library. Exercise
4 will be graded as follows: Turn in original page with correct
profile = 2 points. Turn in copy of original page = 1 point. Fail
to turn in Exercise = 0 points. These will be added to your total
score. This exam is worth 1/7 th of your final grade.
These exercises must be completed by the end of the thirteenth
(13) week of school.
Points will be deducted for late completion of the assignment.
This test is worth 1/2 of an hourly exam (or about 1/7th of your
total grade).

non-comprehensive final. The final will be given at the time and
date listed in the schedule of classes, please - no exceptions,

material is completed to the point listed on the outline. You will
have at least one week's notice prior to a test date. MAKE UP
TESTS are taken at the Proctoring Center.
