On-Line Clinical Orientation Module

In order to enter the clinical arena all Nursing students must annually complete an online clinical orientation module (COM). This training module was developed by a consortium of clinical sites in three counties. Completing this mandatory online training module eliminates the necessity for Nursing students to repeat orientation training at each clinical site. Since the COM  is approved for each site, completing it releases additional time at each site for actual clinical experiences. However, you must obtain a certificate of completion which is presented to and accepted by all of the local hospitals used in the Cabrillo Nursing Program. Completing this module offers students training in the following areas:

  • Patient Safety Goals
  • Fire Safety
  • HIPPA-Patients Rights
  • Codes
  • Infection Control
  • Blood borne and Bodily Fluid Pathogens
  • Pain Management
  • Workplace Violence-Sexual Harassment
  • Ergonomic Concepts
  • Waste Disposal Guidelines
  • Cultural Diversity

Please click the link below for the instructions for completing the module and requesting a certificate:

Completing the COM at Cabrillo's Computer Technology Center

Cabrillo College's Computer Technology Center (CTC) is conveniently located on the lower campus, in building 1400. The CTC is open to all currently enrolled Cabrillo students. There are five specific work stations where the computers are configured such that they will succesfully run all of the modules. Those are: #'s 101, 102, 104, 105 and 107.

In order to use the computers at the CTC you will need a Hawknet account , and know your password!. Use the CTC link above to find information about hours of operation as well as info about how to get an account. You will also need to check out head phones at the front desk so that you can hear the audio portions of the video modules.
