The Program

Cabrillo College Stroke and Acquired Disability Center offers an interdisciplinary educational program for adults with physical disabilities and functional loss. Students enroll in the program and work with counselors to develop individualized learning goals. Small group classes, taught by licensed therapists and assistants, are specifically designed to assist students to reach their highest possible level of independent living.

Class sections are offered Mondays through Thursdays.
Students may enroll for up to eighteen hours per week
of instruction in four main areas:

The Stroke and Disability Center program is appropriate for those who have just recently completed medical rehabilitation services as well as for those who have enduring physical challenges. Our professional team provides instruction and techniques for learning new activities and re-learning familiar tasks. For many, repetition, practice and perseverance are the keys to success.

Throughout the program, students share ideas and receive encouragement from others who have had similar experiences. A community of support takes shape as students meet goals, share accomplishments and witness each other “standing tall.”

The Center is not a respite program or drop-in center, nor does it take the place of outpatient therapy. It is an educational “learning laboratory” where students can gain strength, acquire skills and find support to live successfully in the community.
