Student’s Personal Aides

Because the Center is a educational program and all activities are conducted in a group environment, students who need one-to-one assistance in toileting or who require two people to transfer them from a wheelchair, bring a personal aide to the Center to accompany them throughout the school day. These aides make a vital contribution to the Center staff, because they allow students to attend the Center that would ordinarily be unable to come.

They work in different ways, but all aides accompany students to and from the parking lot, classes, to the bathroom and to lunch. In some instances, they accompany the student to class, but more often they remain in the hall or nearby while class is in session.
