Community Support

The Center is an extraordinary example of people joining together for the common good. Cabrillo College, local governments, businesses and remarkable individuals have joined for over 30 years to make this program work. The Center’s history (recounted in detail in the Keys to Replication webpages), is a history of community support. The Center was founded by the community. And, the Center weathered several major crises during the past three decades because the community valued the program enough to insure its’ survival.

In replicating the program, the host community must be strong and inclusive. Ongoing community support is vital to success.

We are grateful to Congressman Sam Farr and the US Department of Education,
Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation for the funding support that made this website possible.
