The Climate Initaitive Task Force was formed in response to the “American College and University Presidents' Climate Commitment” Signed by Dr. Brian King, Cabrillo’s President, and supported by Cabrillo’s Governing Board.
We meet thoughout the year to help Cabrillo meet sustainability goals. Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome. If you would like to meet with us contact:

July 2011: The Climate Initiative Task Force thanks Ray Rider for procuring new advanced power strips to help reduce Cabrillo's electric bill and carbon footprint. We will need volnteers to help install these in offices.

A college's master plan describes the institutions goals, objectives and strategies for the next few years. Parts of Cabrillo's 2008-2011 Master Plan specifically mention sustainability and climate initiative objectives. You can find the most recent Master Plan update here.
Strategy B4a) Develop interdisciplinary curricula for at least four courses with global sustainability, community service, and/or social justice themes.
Strategy D4a) Develop and implement Sustainable Energy Policy incorporating best practices for sustainability in appropriate policies and procedures.
Strategy E5a) Disseminate and promote energy conservation through an awareness campaign, contests and marketing.
One of the KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) for Objective E5 is measuring kilowatt hours used per square foot.
