Joining the ASCC Student Senate

There are two ways to join the ASCC Student Senate. Please click on either choice to obtain further information:

1. ASCC Student Senate Spring Elections

How to Run for Office

  1. Come to the SAC East building to pick up a Senate application.
  2. Collect 50 signatures from fellow students.
  3. Fill out the application.
  4. Mail yourself a copy.
  5. Return your completed application to Flor Chacón, our Student Activities Coordinator in the Student Activities Center East.

  6. Await further Elections and Campaign Instructions.

For more information, contact the ASCC Elections Chair at any time, day or night. Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Candidates must have and maintain a cumulative 2.0 grade point average at the time they run for office and throughout the course of their term.
  • Candidates in their first semester at Cabrillo must be admitted on a "clear" academic status.
  • Candidates must have and maintain an academic load of five units or more during their term of office.

[Failure to maintain any of the above will result in dismissal from the Student Senate.]

2. Senate Appointments

How to Be Appointed

  1. Come to the SAC East building to pick up a Senate Application.
  2. Collect 50 signatures from fellow students.
  3. Fill out the application.
  4. Mail yourself a copy.
  5. Return your completed application to the Student Activities Coordinator in the SAC East.
  6. Show up at the next Student Senate Meeting prepared for a Q/A session from the Senate on why you should join our team. Consider it a job interview, even though the Student Senate is made up entirely of volunteers. Meeting postings are on both SAC East Doors or you can contact Student Activities Coordinator in the SAC East for Meeting Information.
