Hurd Administration Building APTOS, CA - The Cabrillo College Foundation dedicated the newly named John D. Hurd Administration Building on Sunday, February 13 in a ceremony attended by former state senator Bruce McPherson, and Assemblyman John Laird. Also in attendance were former Cabrillo College president John Hurd, his wife Mary Lou, current president Brian King, and the members of the John Hurd Tribute Campaign Committee, including Jess Brown, John Burroughs, Steve John, Harvey Nickelson, Gary Reece, Diane Siri, Rachael Spencer, Bob Swenson and chair Fred McPherson. As part of the building’s dedication, a plaque honoring John Hurd’s legacy as president of the Cabrillo College is now on display in the administration building. Hurd served as president for twelve years before retiring in December of 2003. The Hurd Tribute Campaign was established to honor his numerous contributions to the school. “John Hurd will be remembered for the unique spirit of collaboration fostered between faculty, staff and students in Cabrillo’s quest for excellence,” said Rachael Spencer, member of the Cabrillo College Governing Board. The goal of the Cabrillo College Foundation in establishing the Hurd Tribute Campaign was to raise $450,000 for the school’s general endowment fund. To date, donors have contributed over $300,000. The Foundation has pledged the remainder from future fundraising. ### | ||||||||||||||||
