Secretary of State McPherson Honored by Cabrillo Governing Board
Mary McPherson Accepts on Husband's Behalf

APTOS, CA—California’s new Secretary of State Bruce McPherson was honored at the recent April meeting of the Cabrillo College Governing Board. Mary McPherson accepted the Cabrillo Board Resolution on her husband’s behalf. Secretary of State McPherson participated in the event via speaker phone.

“I am sorry that I could not be there in person, but it is even better that my wife Mary is there to accept on my behalf. I want to thank you for this special recognition. It has been a privilege to work with you fine folks past and present at Cabrillo College. I will be there for you in the future as I have been in the past,” he said.

McPherson is a fourth-generation Santa Cruz native and his family has longstanding ties to Cabrillo College. “My brother Fred was one of Cabrillo’s first students and he met his wife Linda there (at Cabrillo),”said McPherson. “Fred is also past president of the Cabrillo College Foundation and continues to play an active role,” McPherson continued.  

The Cabrillo College Board Resolution was read by Cabrillo College President Brian King and presented to Mary McPherson by Governing Board President Katy Stonebloom. The Resolution recognizes Bruce McPherson for his many contributions to education and the State of California noting especially that he is respected across the political spectrum for his integrity and ability to work in a non-partisan way.
