Porter Gulch Review Celebrates Twentieth Anniversary
Readings from the spring 2005 edition to take place on May 27 and 28

APTOS, CAThe twentieth anniversary edition of the annual Porter Gulch Review will be celebrated at an event featuring readings and artwork from the literary magazine, on Friday, May 27 at 6:30 p.m., at the Cabrillo College Watsonville Center Lecture Hall, 318 Union St., in Watsonville. There will be another reading and art exhibition on Saturday, May 28, at the Cabrillo College Aptos campus, in the Erica Schilling Forum (Room 450), 6500 Soquel Drive.

Cabrillo College’s Porter Gulch Review is a student-juried publication of poetry, prose, photography, artwork and plays. It was established twenty years ago with the purpose of showcasing novice and experienced writers and artists from Santa Cruz County and beyond. The students of David Sullivan’s English 1B class at Cabrillo College edited this year’s edition.

Kevin Hobson won the prize for this year’s best prose contribution, David Thorn won for poetry, Michael Eckerman won the photography prize, and Alissa Goldring won the prize for artwork.

Copies of the Spring 2005 edition will be available at the event for a suggested donation of $5 per copy. Afterwards the publication will be available for purchase at local bookstores. Additionally, items from the past twenty years of the Porter Gulch Review are currently on exhibit in the lobby of the Cabrillo College Library. For more information, please call David Sullivan at (831) 479-6345.
