Cabrillo Bond Oversight Committee Releases Annual Report

APTOS—(September 12, 2005)—The Cabrillo College independent, Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee issued its first annual report on activities related to the district’s general obligation bond measure.  Presented to the college Governing Board at their September 12 meeting, committee chair Kris Reyes indicated that the committee found the college to be wholly compliant with statutory requirements in expending Measure D general obligation bond revenues. The report highlights several projects that are in progress, including the Student Activities Center and the Arts Education Classrooms. It also identifies the greatest challenges facing the college: the increasing cost of construction and the Division of State Architecture’s lengthy approval process.

The Cabrillo College Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee is required to report annually on its activities to review the status of the college’s facilities improvements that were funded with local bond revenues.  A $118.5 million general obligation bond measure known as Measure D was passed by 62 percent voter approval in March 2004.  The committee’s report covers the period since the March 2004 election.  Copies of the report are available on the college’s website at http://www.cabrillo.edu/internal/facilities/measured/documents/AnnualReport1finalSept2005.pdfHard copies of the report may also be requested by calling the Marketing and Communications office at 831-479-5744, and through local libraries.
