Cabrillo College President Wins Leadership Award

Aptos, CA—The Network of California Community College Foundations (NCCCF) awarded Cabrillo College President Dr. Brian King with its 2005 Presidential Leadership Award.

            NCCCF President Linda Frank, Executive Director of the Santa Rosa Junior College Foundation, presented King with the award on Weds., October 5, at the NCCCF’s Annual Symposium dinner at the Westin Hotel in San Francisco. According to Frank the selection committee was impressed by how much King accomplished in such a short period of time.

            “We had a strong pool of nominees. Dr. King was the obvious choice. What stood out about him was his leadership abilities and support for fund development at Cabrillo College. This was evident by Cabrillo’s significant increase in private and community support from the prior year,” said Frank. 

            King was introduced by Cabrillo College Foundation Executive Director Melinda Silverstein to the room full of NCCCF members including many CEOs from various California community colleges. Cabrillo College Trustees Rachael Spencer and Rebecca J. Garcia also attended the event.

            The Network of California Community College Foundations plays an essential part in the future of community colleges. Its mission is to enhance and support the resource development capabilities of California community college foundations through leadership, training and networking.
