Cabrillo Design Students Offer Free Services to Non-Profits

APTOS—(January 20, 2006)— The Cabrillo College Digital Media Department is offering free graphic design services for printed materials, including brochures, posters, direct mail, letterhead, and logo design to local non-profit agencies. (The offer does not include web or screen design projects.)

Cabrillo College Digital Media instructor Margaret Loos says that both the non-profit agencies and the students benefit. “It is a win-win arrangement. Graphic design services are often an unaffordable expense for cash-strapped non-profits, and real design projects are few and far between for student designers. The clients get a well-designed print piece and our advanced students gain valuable work experience,” says Loos.

In order to receive free services, clients must have a printing budget and clear specifications for a finished product (example: 2,000 copies of a two-color, three-panel brochure).

Digital Media students have completed projects for a variety of non-profit agencies, including Anti Human Trafficking Project, Cabrillo Student Health Center, Childcare Ventures, Community Bridges, Davenport Resource Service Center, Fourth World Vision, Life Lab, Skypark Project, Survivors Healing Center, Tierra Pacifica Charter School, and the Watsonville Public Library.
