Cabrillo College Class of 2006 Celebrates Commencement
Graduation Ceremony is Friday, June 2, 2006

APTOS, CA— Cabrillo College will honor 860 students this year. A formal commencement ceremony will be held on Friday, June 2, 2007 at 5:00 p.m., at the Carl Connelly Stadium, Cabrillo College, 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos.

Following the processional, Cabrillo College Vice President of Student Services Manuel Osorio will welcome participants and guests. Comments from President Brian King and Faculty Senate President Rory O’Brien will precede the presentation of the class by Vice President of Instruction Renee Kilmer. Cabrillo College Governing Board Chairperson Al Smith will participate in the conferring of degrees. James Weckler, Dean of the BELA Division and Alethea De Soto, Puente Program Coordinator and Counselor will read the graduates’ names.

This year Cabrillo will award 468 A.A. degrees, 305 A.S. degrees, 89 Certificates of Proficiency, 130 Skills Certificates and 25 Certificates of Specialization. The three leading degree majors are liberal arts and sciences, nursing, and business.

The class of 2006 is comprised of graduates ranging in age from 17 to 68 years with the average age being 29. Sixty-six point one percent are females and 33.9% are males.

Fifty-four students will graduate with a perfect grade point average of 4.0, 215 students will graduate with high honors, 381 with honors and 744 with honorable mention.

A reception for graduates and guests will immediately follow the ceremony in the pavilion. Parking is available in lots adjacent to the stadium.

Graduates are encouraged to arrive at the gymnasium by 3:00 p.m. to be ready for the processional.
