Cabrillo College Library Opens Its Doors
to San Lorenzo Valley High School Students

APTOS, CA—At the urging of Cabrillo College Trustee, Claudine Wildman, San Lorenzo Valley High School (SLVHS) will have access to the Library at Cabrillo. “The college wanted to do all we could to help in the aftermath of this horrific tragedy,” declared Wildman. “Supporting our community is our highest priority.”

A large percentage of SLVHS students attend Cabrillo when they graduate. In 2003-04 that number was a little over 36%.

Cabrillo President Brian King stated, “We recognize that access to a great library is necessary to support students’ learning. I want to acknowledge Cabrillo’s Director of Library Services, Johanna Bowen for coming to the aid of SLVHS students so quickly. Special thanks especially go to Leonardo Gonzalez, technical support staff and Public Services Librarian Georg Romero who were able to create a special patron library card for San Lorenzo students in a matter of hours.”

San Lorenzo Valley high school students must bring their official school ID card to obtain a Cabrillo library card with the right to check out books and use all resources from computer workstations on the Aptos campus except subscription databases which are prohibited by strict licensing agreements. The library cards will be good until the end of the school’s academic school year.

“We appreciate the support from the community and are grateful to Cabrillo College for supporting our students in this time of need. The cooperation between our organizations has been outstanding,” declared Craig Lewis, principal of San Lorenzo Valley High School.
