Cabrillo College Stroke Center
Roof Celebration and Thank You
Thursday, October 26, 2006, 11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.

APTOS, CA ― The Cabrillo College Stroke Center celebrates on Thursday, October 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the center in the DeLaveaga Golf Course to thank the artists, musicians and community members who contributed to its fundraiser to repair its roof.

At the celebration, the Stroke Center Choir will perform a special thank you song, the students will present a surprise “Thank You” gift to Dinyari Inc., a local roofing company, and representatives of the college will recognize the many generous donors, including the City of Santa Cruz.

Last winter heavy rains left drips and puddles all over the Center where over 250 students, some in wheelchairs, come each year to learn how to live with functional loss.
Due to local media coverage, Dinyari learned of the Center’s need and picked up more than half the cost to upgrade the roof.

“We are grateful to Dinyari for their generosity. This is a fine example of how we all work together to help the community, ” declared Brian King, President and Superintendent of Cabrillo College.

Buck Dinyari, President of Dinyari Inc. said, “when Dinyari learned of the Stroke Center’s need, we couldn’t sit back and do nothing. Many of the Center’s students are relearning basic skills that most of us take for granted and we salute them.”

Using a highly reflective, non-toxic, environmentally friendly product, this roof will cut the Center’s annual energy bill and protect the WWII era building, initially built as a Naval Reserve Training Center, for years to come.
