Cabrillo College's New Scotts Valley Center
On Track to Open January 29
Spring 2007 Classes Start February 5

APTOS, CA— Finishing touches are being put on the new Cabrillo College Scotts Valley Center, which will open its doors on Monday, January 29, 2007 to assist students with registration and counseling. Residents from the San Lorenzo Valley and Scotts Valley areas will now have convenient access to a state-of-the-art facility offering a wide variety of college level courses. Classes start February 5 and late registration continues through February 20.

The Scotts Valley Center will be open Mondays through Thursdays from 8:00 a.m to 6:00 p.m. to assist students with general college and registration questions. Counselors will also be available at the Center Mondays through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to assist students with general, academic and career counseling.

On Friday, February 2 at 11 a.m., the college is also hosting a special grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony. Expected to speak are Cabrillo College Trustee Claudine Wildman, San Lorenzo Valley resident Donna Ziel, Scotts Valley Mayor Dene Bustichi, Fifth District County Supervisor Mark Stone, Student Trustee Jonathan Saad, and college President Brian King.

“Cabrillo’s new center enables Scotts Valley and San Lorenzo Valley residents to obtain a first-class college education conveniently located nearby along with the ability to transfer all of their academic credits to various four-year California universities such as UC Santa Cruz, San Jose State, CSU Monterey Bay and others,” declared Claudine Wildman.

“Registration for classes in Scotts Valley has been very strong and several classes already have waitlists,” stated Renée Kilmer, Cabrillo College Vice President of Instruction. “This is a clear indication of north county residents’ desire to attend college, whether for personal or professional reasons, and we look forward to offering a wider range of classes as demand grows.”

The Cabrillo College Scotts Valley Center is located at 104 Whispering Pines Drive in Scotts Valley a block away from the county’s Metro Bus station and a stone’s throw away from Mt. Hermon Road.
