Press Releases 2007 CONTACT: Mary Planding, Director, Marketing & Communications Cabrillo College Announces Addition of Two Seasoned Business Leaders to its Business Department’s Instructional Staff
APTOS, CA—This fall semester, the Cabrillo College Business, Accounting and Real Estate Department announces the appointment of Michael Booth and Ray Kaupp to full-time faculty positions. With more than 40 years of combined industry leadership, Booth and Kaupp will provide real-world perspective and academic excellence to Cabrillo’s growing population of business students. Both are long-time Santa Cruz County residents. Booth has previously taught finance and accounting courses as a Cabrillo adjunct faculty member. Prior to starting his academic career, his business career spanned more than 27 years of marketing, finance, manufacturing and general management in life sciences / chemical analysis, including Perkin Elmer, Applied BioSystems and Agilent Technologies. Most recently he was general manager of the genomics business unit at Agilent technologies, Santa Clara. Booth earned his B.S. from University of San Francisco and his M.B.A from St. Mary's College, Moraga. Kaupp has also been an adjunct faculty member at Cabrillo College and Mission College in Santa Clara. His business career spanned more than 20 years of marketing and general management positions in the technology sector, including Apple Computer, Metaphor, and Digital Impact. Most recently, he was vice president of marketing and business development at BroadWare Technologies, which was sold to Cisco Systems in June of this year. Kaupp holds a B.S. from San Diego State University and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley. The business, accounting, and real estate department with five full-time and ten part-time faculty members offers transferable and non-transferable, practical and market-driven courses in Aptos, Watsonville and Scotts Valley as well as a wide range of online courses. The department has expanded its offering in the past few years by adding international business curriculum, an e-commerce course, tax and spreadsheet accounting courses, and a range of real estate courses required for the sales agent and brokers state licenses.
