Cabrillo College’s Spring Dance Concert Highlights Special Scholarship and Award Night
May 23 and 24 at 8 pm and May 25 at 3 pm

APTOS, CA—The Cabrillo College Dance Department is proud to present an evening of exciting new dance works created by faculty, student and guest choreographers, performed by the students of Cabrillo College. The Spring Dance Concert will perform on Friday and Saturday evening, May 23 and 24 at 8 pm. Matinee on Sunday, May 25 at 3 pm.

Saturday evening’s performance will be highlighted by the presentation of the Roberta Bristol Award and the Tandy Beal Scholarship. The Roberta Bristol Award, named after the founding faculty member of the department, goes to a student who has shown dedicated service and contribution to the dance department as well as immense talent in the field of dance.  The Tandy Beal Scholarship is given to encourage a first-year dance student to complete their studies.

The concert features dance pieces by twenty student choreographers and over 100 performers. Drawing from many dance forms, including hip hop, samba, salsa, and swing, students from all over Santa Cruz County will share their dance creations which explore and express their distinctive takes on life.

Also on the program are works by Cabrillo faculty members and guest artists, including Amy Farhood, David King, Per Haaland, Rhonda Martyn, Cid Pearlman, Yasmina Porter, Sharon Took-Zozaya and Rachel Van Dessel.

When: Fri May 23 and Sat May 24 at 8 p.m.  Sun matinee May 25 at 3 p.m.

Where: Cabrillo College Theater, 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos

Tickets: $12 general admission, $10 seniors/students, $8 with student activity card. Tickets available at 479-6331 or at the door.
