Editor of San Francisco Chronicle to Address Cabrillo College Class of 2008
Graduation Ceremony, Friday, June 6, 2008
Carl Connelly Stadium, Aptos, CA
6:00 pm

APTOS, CA—Cabrillo College will honor 903 students in a formal commencement ceremony to confer their degrees and certificates on Friday, June 6, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at the Carl Connelly Stadium, Cabrillo College, 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos.

Following the processional, Cabrillo College Vice President of Student Services May Chen will welcome participants and guests. Ward Bushee, Cabrillo alumnus  and editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, Cabrillo College President Brian King and Cabrillo Faculty Senate President Steve Hodges will give their congratulatory remarks to the Cabrillo College Class of 2008.

Vice President of Instruction Renée Kilmer will present the class of 2008. Cabrillo College Governing Board Chairperson Claudine Wildman will participate in the conferring of degrees. Marcie Wald, Cabrillo counselor, and Louis Compaginis, Cabrillo Spanish instructor, will read the graduates’ names.

This year Cabrillo will award 537 A.A. degrees, 309 A.S. degrees, 49 certificates of proficiency, 138 skills certificates and 23 certificates of specialization. The three leading degree majors are liberal arts and sciences, nursing, and business.

The class of 2008 is comprised of graduates ranging in age from 17 to 71 years with an average age of 29. Sixty-three percent are females and 37% are males.

Sixty students will graduate with a perfect grade point average of 4.0, 142 students will graduate with high honors, 155 with honors and 408 with honorable mentions.

A reception for graduates and guests will immediately follow the ceremony in the pavilion on the stadium floor. Parking is available in lots adjacent to the stadium.

Graduates are encouraged to arrive at the college gymnasium by 5:00 p.m. to be ready for the processional.
