Cabrillo College’s Distinguished Artists Series Presents Acclaimed  Ensemble
The Tilden Trio Performs Saturday, September 13 at 8:00 PM, Cabrillo College Theater.

Aptos, CA The Cabrillo College Distinguished Artist series is honored to present The Tilden Trio in concert. The Bay Area’s most sought after ensemble will perform an evening of captivating music for piano, violin and cello on September 13 at the Cabrillo Theater at 8:00 PM.

Tilden Trio was formed in 2004 by Juilliard schoolmates Sarn Oliver (violin), Peter Wyrick (cello) and June Choi Oh (piano).  Having collaborated for decades in various ensembles starting in their Juilliard pre-college days, the trio is dedicated to the performance of timeless masterpieces as well as exciting new contemporary works. Tilden Trio's diverse repertoire includes compositions by Brahms, Ravel, Tango-inspired Piazzolla as well as contemporary works by Oliver and others.

The Trio has appeared in the Chancellor’s Series at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Chamber Music Sundaes in Berkeley, the Guest Concert Series at Dominican University, and the San Francisco Symphony Chamber Music Series at Davies Symphony Hall, among others.  The Tilden Trio were the featured artists for the 2007 Music Teacher’s Association of California Convention (MTAC), where the trio presented master classes and a recital.

The evening’s concert will include Copland’s Study on a Jewish Theme, Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor, Martinu’s Duo for Violin and Cello and Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in C Minor.

Sarn Oliver, violin, has performed as a soloist with the Dallas Symphony, Shreveport Symphony and Richardson Symphony among others.  He joined the San Francisco Symphony in 1993 after serving as Principal Second Violin in the Sacramento Symphony and Concertmaster of the Santa Cruz Symphony.  An active composer, his Trio One for two Violins and Viola was premiered at the Chamber Music Series at Davies Symphony Hal in 2005.

Peter Wyrick, is the associate principal cellist of the San Francisco Symphony.  He was a member of the acclaimed Ridge String Quartet, whose recording of the Dvorak Piano Quintet with Rudolf Firkusny on the RCA label, won the French Diaposon d'Or and was nominated for the 1993 Grammy Award.  He has performed as a soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, the Aspen Chamber Symphony and Kozponti Sinonicus in Budapest, Hungary among others.

June Choi Oh, piano, is a currently a faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Dominican University of California, and is a former faculty member of the Manhattan School of Music.  She has performed as a soloist with the New Haven Symphony, Aspen Concert Orchestra, Palo Alto Philharmonic and the Filarmonica de Jalisco in Mexico.
