Cabrillo Theatre Arts Opens Its Doors to Teens With Annual "Stage Door" High School Workshops.
Saturday September 27, 9:00 – 4:30 PM at the Cabrillo College Theater

APTOS, CA - On Saturday Sept. 27, the Cabrillo College Theatre Arts Department will host their annual one-day workshops for high school students, "Stage Door," which explores all aspects of theatre.

This year the popular workshops will host Broadway veteran Janie Scott teaching "Dance for Musical Theatre." Scott, who appeared on Broadway in Peter Pan, Cats, and Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along, is a theatre arts professor at San Jose State University where she started the acclaimed musical theatre program, Company One.  Scott is known locally for directing such hits at Cabrillo Stage as Guys and Dolls and Some Like it Hot, as well as starring in Stage's productions of Peter Pan and Annie Get Your Gun.

The all–day workshops, taught by Cabrillo faculty and visiting artists, promises students a great time learning new skills and techniques in theatre arts, as well as getting to know other students interested in theatre and sharing information.

Workshops are offered in the following areas:

  • Improvisation
  • Lighting
  • Set Design
  • Unarmed Combat
  • Costume Design & Construction
  • Acting for the Camera
  • Dance for Musical Theatre
  • Comedy
  • Auditioning

What: Stage Door: Cabrillo College Theatre Arts Department invites high school students for all-day workshops learning improvisation, lighting, set design, costume design and construction, acting for the camera, dance, comedy and auditioning techniques.

When: Saturday September 27, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Where: Cabrillo College Theater, 6500 Soquel Drive, Aptos, CA

Fee: $25 per student registration fee (includes lunch and snacks).
