Discipline
We presume that children naturally want to be loving and loved members of their world, but that learning social skills is a slow process with many stumbles upon the way. Healthy young children are egocentric, however, we still work with them to learn mutual problem solving, to be able to tell others what they need and think, to be able to hear another person's point of view, to both take care of themselves and to be caring of others. Our goal is to help children learn "self discipline". This doesn't come particularly easy to young children, but each time limit setting comes up, it is an opportunity to practice.
