State Preschool Program

The Program

The Cabrillo College Children's Center is pleased to offer the State Preschool Program grant to eligible families. This program is offered to you by the State of California Department of Education, Child Development Division. The intention of the grant is to provide education and preschool opportunities to income eligible families with three and four year old children. The program quality, child-staff ratio and curriculum for the children is the same as our other preschool program slots. The difference for families is that these spaces are fully paid for by this grant and that 5 day a week attendance is required. This is a continuing grant.

Eligibility

Families with children 3,4 or 5 years of age (pre-kindergarten).
Families whose children have a court ordered program participation or are CPS referred.
Children of the above age-range with special needs or physical handicapping conditions.
Families whose gross verifiable income is equal to or less than the following:

Requirements

Participants must demonstrate eligibility by submitting a recent pay stub or an AFDC"Notice of Action" form.
Children must attend five days a week and bring a note for excused absences.
Families must comply with the parent participation rules of the Center, daily sign-in and keep the Center posted on income changes.

To Apply

The Children's Center offers several program and schedule options. The application includes space for the State Preschool Program in the morning or afternoon or offers you the option of including some surrounding services for a fee.
