A: This course is designed to help participants experience positive transformation in their leadership practices. It has been designed by a team of experts and includes ample application time and support. Participants will learn and apply positive leadership practices and share their own expertise with others.
A: Our course is built on concepts and practices that help you build a positive, supportive work culture. Research in several fields of study has shown that people are more motivated to perform in a positive workplace, and that a positive work place leads to lower turnover and better productivity overall. Further, a positive, creative workplace allows leaders to leverage the best from their employees.
A: We have received a lot of feedback from past participants about the course format. While one to two days a month does seem like a lot, anything less would not yield the same level of exposure to important leadership ideas and practices. Our goal is to expose you to a new concept, give you time to grapple with it in class, and then help you transfer that concept into your leadership back at work. Therefore, we will also encourage small group telephone support once per month as a supplement to class time. These “check-in” calls will allow you to meet in small groups, discuss what you¹ve learned and how it is working at your workplace, and gain insights from other class participants. Not only will you have time in class for planning, you will also receive the support necessary so that you can transfer knowledge to work.
A: No. This course is being delivered through Cabrillo’s Corporate Training Department. There is no college credit given for this course, and you need not enroll as a student.
A: It is true that parking can be challenging at Cabrillo. However, we will meet at the “top” of campus in a room at the Horticulture center and there is a parking lot up there. Due to our starting time, there should be plenty of parking available. We always encourage carpooling, and each class participant will receive a parking permit.
A: No. We will review important concepts from these texts and many others in class. These books are recommended because they provide a deeper understanding of some of the pivotal concepts that inform the course content.
