Priority (Early) Registration (Matriculation) Packets 1.16
During each registration period for fall and spring semesters, continuing students have first priority for phone/online registration. The next group of student who can access early registration are those students who qualify as "matriculation" students. The last group of students who can access early registration are new/non-matriculation students. There are opportunities for students from some special support programs to access early registration before "matriculation" students. Each semester there is a registration timeline established by A & R that establishes the respective registration dates. An updated timeline can be found on the "T" drive in a folder called "Deb".Counselors can make the determination if a student qualifies for an early registration packet (otherwise known as the Matriculation packet).
General criteria for who qualifies:
1) Returning Cabrillo students (who have been out for a semester or more) and who have assessment scores or equivalencies for math and English entered into the system.2) New students to Cabrillo who have: 1) previous college experience and 2) English and math coursework completed (with a Credit or "C" or better grade) or assessment scores from another college (in these cases enter the equivalencies for math and English through NCWS).
3) Students who complete early assessment and orientation also receive early registration packets.
Once you determine that a student qualifies:
1) Notify A & R that the student qualifies for early registration. To do this, counselors complete the half sheet form that says "Early Assessment" across the top. The Counseling Division Assistant can provide these forms. Fill this form out and submit it to the Counseling Division Assistant. It will then be forwarded to the appropriate person in A & R. Counselors can also give the filled out form directly to Rosario in A & R.2) A & R will then clear the student in the computer system to allow registration and will mail the student an Early Registration Packet. This packet contains: information on how to access phone/online registration, a Student Update Form (STUF form) to be completed and returned to A & R, and a parking pass/bus pass card to be returned to A & R.
3) If the student receives an early registration packet within the time of early registration dates, it may take a few days for the student to be cleared by the computer system.
