AP Test Scores 1.2
With a score of 3, 4 or 5, students can use AP tests in a number of ways. They can be used for units toward a Cabrillo Associate Degree, for CSU transfer units, and for UC transfer units. AP test scores can be used to meet general education requirements for Cabrillo’s AA and AS patterns, for the CSU G.E. pattern, and for the IGETC pattern. They can also be used to meet prerequisites at Cabrillo for those courses that are computer-blocked in the registration process. In any of these cases, the student needs to provide Cabrillo with official documentation of their scores. If the scores are clearly posted on their official high school transcript, we can use that for official documentation. We treat the documentation as we would a college transcript (if we open it, we sign it as official, date it, and submit it for filing in the Counseling Division Office files).Using AP scores for General Education and units
Listed in the Cabrillo Catalog under "Advanced Placement", there is a chart that details:
To determine how many UC transfer units can be given for AP test scores of 3, 4, or 5, consult the UC resource called "Quick Reference for Counselors". Listed under Advanced Placement in the table of contents is a chart giving the number of quarter units the UC system will grant for AP test scores of 3 or above.Using AP scores for Major Preparation
To use the AP test to meet major preparation will require research with the specific university and with the specific department.
