Orientation Script 2.10

 
The Orientation Script (or Guide) is included as an appendix in the hard copy of this manual. Sally Larter and Mario Garcia co-chaired the committee that developed the Script. They can be contacted if additional copies are needed.

The Guide should serve as an outline for the general Cabrillo College orientation. It is especially useful for new counselors leading orientation sessions. The twelve components include:

  • Reasons for attending Cabrillo College
  • Responsibilities as a student
  • Importance of counseling
  • Student Services and support programs (including Financial Aid)
  • Academic information
  • Course numbering sequence systems
  • Matriculation Rights
  • Student Rights
  • Degree, Certificates and Transfer information
  • How to choose classes
  • Campus Layout
  • Registration Process
    • The order of presentation is merely a suggestion and may be adjusted, as the counselor deems appropriate. However, Matriculation requires that each area be mentioned during the orientation process.
