There are two sets of Student Rights and Responsibilities that counselors should be familiar with: 1) campus wide Student Rights and Responsibilities and 2) Matriculation Rights and Responsibilities.Under "Student Rights and Responsibilities" in the catalog, students are directed to the office of the Vice President of Student Services, room 904, for specific administrative regulations with regard to campus wide R & Rs. The Vice President's office puts out a publication detailing these administrative regulations and the procedure to be followed by students who suspect that their rights have been violated.

Student Responsibilities:
Student Rights:To select an education goal within a reasonable amount of time. To initiate registration activities in a timely manner. To regularly attend classes and perform assigned work. To seek and/or respond to various service activities in support of educational success. The catalog refers students to the Assessment Center (479-6165) for more information. The Student Success Process is coordinated by the Dean of Student Development.To waive orientation, assessment, and advisement/counseling. To challenge requisites and limitations on enrollment based on the prerequisite challenge procedure. To retake placement tests according to the Assessment Office policy. To file a complaint of unlawful discrimination of assessment, orientation, counseling, prerequisites, or any other matriculation procedure which is applied in a discriminatory manner.
