Cabrillo College is fortunate to have two mental health professionals assisting students in crisis as well as by referral. Francisco Ponce and Cathryn Clark are available in the 900 building (in the Student Services area) during specific scheduled hours. Francisco is also scheduled one day a week at the Watsonville Center. In case of a crisis, see the attached Student Crisis Intervention Assistance. This sheet identifies building by building the contact people who will assist students by connecting them with either the Health Center or Counseling.
When a student in crisis is referred to counseling that information should go to Janus or Cynthia in the 100 building. One or the other will determine if either Francisco or Cathryn are available, if so they will see the student. If not the office assistants will review counselor schedules to determine who is available. Counselors are encouraged to complete the attached Crisis Intervention Intake.
Academic counselors see students on an emergency basis and are encouraged to refer students to either Francisco or Cathryn for long-term counseling. Students are allowed a total of 6 one hour appointments per semester as needed.
