Education Plans 2.6
Each student is encouraged to co-create an Education Plan according to the matriculation regulations. Presently we have a homegrown educational plan tool (using Excel) that is on each computer (thanks to Lynne Sergius for these efforts). This ed plan tool does not connect with any other office on campus.

Ideally the Educational Plan includes a minimum of six semesters which will display in sequential form the admission, general education, and major courses needed to meet the student's goal. Because the Ed Plan does not connect with other offices it is essential that an extra copy be made and placed in the student’s file. Counselors can also save the excel ed plan to the "O" drive, in a file called "ed plans". By saving the plan in this folder, other counselors can access the information.

While specific education plans are helpful for all students, programs such as Financial Aid and Veterans require an educational plan for payment of tuition. Financial Aid requires a full educational plan only when a student exceeds a certain unit limit. All veterans, in order to receive benefits, must have an education plan on file with Admissions & Records.

If a student needs a complete educational plan for Financial Aid, he/she will typically have a checklist from F.A. that indicates the need for a full educational plan. The student will usually present this checklist to the counselor.

Veteran's ed plans are maintained through Admissions & Records. Currently Rosario is the keeper of the ed plans. Students needing a veteran's education plan should schedule an appointment with Francisco Ponce, Jay Jackson, or Lynne Sergius. These designated counselors have specific the paperwork required by the veteran's office.
