When a student makes an academic inquiry via e-mail the counselor should be aware of the following issues:1. Confidentiality, a student who is making an inquiry is not necessarily the student of record.
2. Any e-mail sent by the counselor is considered a legal document.
3. E-mail can be a very time consuming manner in which to answer a student. It is advisable to ask for a phone number from the student, call the student and schedule a phone appointment.Beginning spring semester 2002, the Counseling Division will be removing individual counselor email addresses from the Cabrillo Web Page. Students will be directed to an online advising intake form, and then have the opportunity to access a counselor via email. A team of counselors will do a portion of their student contact time responding and following-up on these email inquiries.
