Financial Aid Counseling Verification Forms 2.8
Financial Aid has its own standards for satisfactory academic progress which students receiving aid must adhere to. When a student is out of compliance with F.A. regulations, there are various levels of intervention from F.A., some of which involve counselors.

When a student is on probation from F.A., they will be notified of the need to attend an Academic Progress Workshop. As a part of the packet they receive, they will have a Counseling Verification Form that will need to be completed, signed by a counselor, and returned by the student to F.A. Students will come to counseling wanting a signature on the Counseling Verification Form.

The counselor signature and comments essentially confirm that we have looked at the students long-term goals, and determined that they are enrolled in appropriate classes and in contact with appropriate services. In some rare cases, this can be done quickly during drop-in counseling. More likely, the student would be best served by scheduling an appointment.

Depending on the specifics of their situation, the student may need to submit to F.A. a "full educational plan". This is usually required by F.A. in the cases where the student has exceeded the maximum time frame (or exceeded the number of units allowed in their declared program). If a full ed plan is needed, counselors can use the excel ed plan described in this manual.
