This afternoon’s
meeting is canceled due to a lack of agenda
items.
I wanted to give you an update on
the CCFT DE Task Force meeting last Thursday. The task force accepted your
recommendations and will be looking at suggesting revisions to the evaluation
process for online instructors. There is still work to do on several document
drafts and I hope to bring them back to you at our first spring meeting. The
suggested revisions may include:
1.
Recommending the procedure for
picking an evaluation team in Article 17 of the contract. If a DE class is to be
evaluated, allow the distance faculty member to choose an experienced DE
instructor to be a part of the evaluation team.
2.
Revise the Student Evaluation of
Online Instructor form (Appendix CC) to align more with questions asked on
Student Evaluation of Instructor form (Appendix M), specifically questions
related to timeliness of response with respect to student assignments and the
open-ended questions #20-22 on Appendix M.
3.
Put the student evaluation form
online so student responses are only processed by division staff, and when
shared with evaluation team, student anonymity is
protected.
4.
Develop a simple classroom
observation form specifically for distance courses. The intent is to align the
observation with question #6 on the current Student Evaluation form which asks
“Which of the following methods of contact between the instructor and students
are regularly used in this course?”
