SPRING
February 11th – June 7th, 2008

Telecourses & Teleweb courses are offered at Cabrillo during the Fall and Spring semesters only.

Telecourses are pre-produced television courses which can be seen on Community Television of Santa Cruz County Channel 25 (AT&T Cable), on Watsonville Community Television Channel 71 (Charter Cable), and on videotape.

The courses are credit courses, which give students the opportunity to complete most of their course work outside of the classroom on their own time. The courses are academically equivalent to on-campus courses and use Cabrillo instructors. Some students feel telecourses are more difficult than on–campus courses since students are responsible for learning on their own. Success in these courses requires maturity and a strong commitment by the student.

Telecourses include:

1. Campus visits Students come to the college campus at designated times to meet with the instructor and other students for orientation, review and/or testing. Students also telephone or visit instructors during office hours.  
2. Television viewing Telecourse students view programs at home or can see them in the Learning Center on the Aptos campus, at the Watsonville campus, or at other arranged sites in the county. Video tapes of the programs can be rented for the semester. The details of each course will vary and will be explained in part in the schedule and in detail at the orientation.  
3. Reading assignments Students are required to read the textbook and other materials as assigned by the instructor. It is recommended that each lesson is read before viewing the program. Books are available at the Bookstore. Newsletters with course information may be sent to students throughout the term.  
4. Completion of assignments/exams Students complete assignments or special projects given by the instructor. In addition, exams are held on campus at scheduled times.
