What is CARE?

Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education

CARE is a program which represents a cooperative effort involving Cabrillo College, CalWORKs & California Employment Development Department.  CARE assists in linking education, job training and supportive services for single parents on welfare. 

Program Goals

It is the intent of Cabrillo College that CalWORKs participants be given an opportunity to expand their education and job training opportunities, and thereby enhance their employability and minimize their need for CalWORKs.  It is also the intent of Cabrillo College that CalWORKs participants realize that they are capable, their children are important, and with proper support they can become self sufficient through education and job training.

CARE Services

  • academic, vocational and personal counseling
  • priority registration
  • university transfer assistance
  • academic, transfer and parenting workshops
  • childcare grants
  • meal cards/gas cards
  • school supplies
  • textbook purchase assistance

How can I qualify?

  • be eligible for EOPS
  • a California resident
  • enrolled full-time (12 units)
  • over the age of 18 and single head of household
  • have at least one child under the age of 14
  • you our your children recipients of CalWORKs cash aid
  • have a vocational or academic objective

To apply, please fill it out the CARE application and submit to our office.

Note: If you are not an EOPS student already, you must submit an EOPS application as well.
