Motorcycle Safety Training

motorcycle range

Our award-winning Motorcycle Safety class is the only CMSP approved class in Santa Cruz County.

Before Registering for a class, please read Student Information which includes information about required equipment, certificates, cancellation and refund policy.

California Law requires that motorcycle and moped drivers under age 21 complete an approved safety training program before being issued a DMV Permit. The permit will be valid for 6 months before a license will be issued.

This course fulfills the DMV requirement for under 21 riders. Riders over 21 also benefit since successful completion of the course may waive the riding skills test at the California DMV and insurance discounts may be available.

We provide motorcycles and helmets.

These classes are offered in English only.

Estas clases se ofrecen solamente en Ingles.

Fee for students under 21: $180
Fee for students over 21: $258

We hold two classes per month and they fill quickly.

Class is held in room 1522 and two Saturday ranges in Parking lot M. See Interactive Campus Map for details.

Each class consists of 4 meetings held on 2 consecutive Thursday evenings (6:30pm to 10pm) and 2  Saturdays (approximately 6:45 am - noon OR 12:45pm to 6:00pm - these times are approximate and will be finalized during the first classroom session. Please note that during the months of November and December, due to limited daylight, we offer only morning range classes on Saturday. Please plan accordingly.  You must be able to attend all four meetings.  When registering for a class, be certain that you can attend all four meetings and arrive on time to avoid being dropped from the class.

The entire class will participate in the classroom meetings, but may be split into two range sections.  Initially you should plan on blocking the full day on the scheduled Saturdays.  The instructor will assign you to a morning or afternoon range at the first class meeting.

Before Registering for a class, please read Student Information which includes information about required equipment, certificates, cancellation and refund policy.

Please note that we rarely fill classes from waitlists. We encourage students to register for a class that has availability.
