Chinese for Travelers
This short language course is designed to help those who are planning to visit China, or who just want to learn conversational Mandarin Chinese. You will learn basic greetings, how to exchange personal information, ask for food and drinks, time and dates, currency exchange, how to purchase a cell phone, taxi, and more.
If you take this class before traveling you will be better able to deal with transactions in the airport, hotel or restaurant and navigate while on the street and visiting local sites. You will also be able to use this language class locally, while in the Bay Area Chinese shopping areas and restaurants.

Yaming Shen has advanced degrees in Chinese Language, Literature and Linguistics. She is the Chinese instructor at Cabrillo College. Yaming is co-author of a 14-volumne Chinese textbook and has other publications on Chinese pedagogy and related fields.
