Financial aid is used to pay for mandatory fees, books, transportation, room and board and other educational expenses while attending Cabrillo. Awards are contingent upon the availability of funds. If funds are insufficient, Cabrillo College reserves the right to adjust financial aid awards as necessary.
The Board of Governor's Enrollment Fee Waiver waives the unit enrollment fee at Communtiy Colleges for California residents, including high school students so that the cost of enrollment is not a barrier. BOG eligibility is based on financial need and is not affected by academic progress.
BOG recipients pay $20 per semester for a parking permit. BOG does not cover bus pass fees. Learn more about the Bus pass>>
The BOG is not a cash award and does not cover other educational expenses.
Students may apply for a BOG by completing either the BOG application or the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). BOG applications enable students to be considered for the fee waiver only and have stricter eligibility requirements. By filing a FAFSA, students are considered for the BOG as well as other forms of aid.

3. BOG Method C
If you do not qualify for a BOG under Method A or Method B, you need to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Allow 2-6 weeks for processing.
When Is The Deadline To Apply For A BOG?
The deadline to apply for a BOG is the last day of the term. Once you qualify for a BOG, eligibility continues for the remainder of the school year.
If you qualify for a BOG and have already paid registration fees, you will receive a refund for the waived fees from the Cabrillo College Bank. You cannot receive a refund for a term that has already ended. Contact the College Bank in Building 100 if you have questions regarding refund checks.
Pell grants are based on financial need and enrollment status. Eligibility is based on the student's Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) which is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and verified by the Financial Aid Office.
Annual Award: $976 - $5550.
This federal program provides limited grant funding on a first-come, first-serve basis to students who meet the March 2nd FAFSA priority filing deadline. Recipients must be eligible for a Pell Grant, enrolled in 6 or more units, and demonstrate exceptional financial need.
Average Annual Award: $400.
Cal Grants are funded by the state for California residents. They are awarded by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) and are based on financial need and academic merit. Students must meet the March 2nd priority filing deadline. There is an additional deadline of September 2nd for Community College students. The Cal Grant Program is comprised of Entitlement and Competitive awards. For more information on Cal Grants visit /www.calgrants.org.
This competitive grant is for students who intend to teach or supervise in the field of childcare and development. Grant recipients must agree to provide one full year of service in a licensed childcare center for every year they receive grant. Recipients are also required to complete a Service Commitment Agreement prior to receiving payment from the program. To be considered for this award students must have completed the FAFSA, be eligible for financial aid, and complete a Child Development Grant Application. Annual Award: CC $1000, CSU/UC $2000.
Assists eligible foster youth and former foster youth with the costs of attending college. To qualify, a student must have been in foster care between their 16th and 18th birhtdays and cannot have reached their 22nd birthday as of July 1 of the award year. Qualifying students could have been in foster care in another state and now live in California. To be considered for this award students must complete the FAFSA, be eligible for financial aid, and complete the Chafee Grant Program Application. Maximum Annual Award: $5000.
Scholarships are available each year for current students, enrolling high school graduates and transferring students. They are awarded annually on a competitive basis, with consideration given to scholastic achievement, financial need and student potential.

This is an award to work in a job on campus or off-campus for a public or nonprofit agency. Hourly wages on campus range from $8.00 to $12.25. Students receive a monthly paycheck for hours worked and can earn up to the amount of their award. Priority is given to students who meet the March 2nd deadline. Students who have not been awarded may request to be placed on a wait list.
Average Annual Award: $4000.
Loans must be repaid! Cabrillo recommends that students borrow only when it is absolutely necessary. Students who are planning to transfer should be aware that loans are generally the largest portion of a financial aid package at four year colleges and should consider total educational indebtedness before borrowing at Cabrillo.
