Federal Repeat Policy for Financial Aid Students

The Department of Education recently published new Financial Aid regulations which impact undergraduate students who repeat courses. These federal regulations are called Program Integrity Rules and are effective beginning with the 2011-2012 school year and are retroactive.

The new regulation states that undergraduate students may only receive federal financial aid funding for one repeat of a previously passed course.

Note: All repeated courses do affect financial aid's required Satisfactory Academic Progress calculations. A repeated course along with the original attempts must be counted as attempted units whether or not you have been paid for them.

Financial Aid is required to monitor repeat classes for all periods of enrollment (including prior terms). This repeat policy is separate from the new State mandated change on repeats for the college.

Please note there is a separate State Repeat Policy for Admissions.
